Этот яркий проект является детищем нидерландско-бельгийского разработчика Шурдса де Йонга. Ему помогали студии Teotl (Швеция) и Grip Games (Чехия). Команда создателей в разное время включала от 5 до 10 человек. Однако небольшой союз смог сделать многое, и игра The Solus Project произвела больше впечатление на выставке E3 2015. Долгое время проект был почти секретным, ведь работа над ним началась еще в июле 2013 года. Просто Шурдс де Йонг и коллеги сосредоточились не на словах, а на деле. Доступные материалы подтверждают, что следует ждать чего-то впечатляющего. В первую очередь привлекает атмосферная графика, выполненная с помощью движка Unreal 4.

Предстоит путешествовать не только по поверхности таинственной планеты, но и исследовать пещеры, гробницы... Да, эта земля точно раньше была населенной. Если точнее, земли, поскольку мир The Solus Project состоит из 5 островов, связанных мрачными переходами. Однако не стоит бояться, что внезапно нападет кто-то разумный. Опасность таится только в природе и окружении. Даже температура играет не на стороне героя: днем достигает 45 °C, ночью падает до -30°C. Стоит быть готовым к жаре, холоду, голоду, невыносимой усталости. Остается добавить, что игра является идейным продолжением The Ball от студии Teotl, а также новая игра вдохновлена классическими представителями индустрии, вышедшими 20–30 лет назад.

MAJOR
• Episode 3 content added
• Save game format was tweaked to be more flexible for the future! Backwards compatibility was built in but may still lead to unforeseen consequences. Please back up your save games and let us know if you hit any unexpected issues!
• Force feedback support added.
• Balancing: Text scrolls slower + speed can be set via ini file. Flashlight upgrades give 15% now. Major fix for hypothermia being incorrectly calculated in average temperature environments. While sleeping your body temperature changes less.
• Smoke monster also attacks other sources of heat now. You can hide yourself with cold items. Can now recraft the frame device found in the second large cave level.
• Ladder behaviour changed.
• When climbing ladders you now go down with forward if looking down
• Cannot strafe on ladders anymore to lessen risk falling off
Core
• Changes to Xbox controller layout
• Game now supports force feedback for Xbox controller
• Audio now uses 64 channels instead of 32. This fixes all forms of audio noise and restarts but may impose higher demands on PC. Please keep an eye out for any problems here.
• PDA Story text reading slower
• PDA story text read speed can also be manually set via game.ini
• Communication tower parts now correctly saved and loaded on levels other than Crossroads.
• Swords can also open cans of food now
• Smoke Monster now also attacks heat crystals, and can now no longer see the player if the player holds a cold emitting item. Upon attacking a heat device it also allows for the heat device to be emptied and return to its shell state thereby allowing you to craft a different kind of device next time around.
• Glitched torch problem fixes where lighting one torch with another could result in unusable torches in some scenarios.
• Ocean reflections now a lot faster to render, and due to that ocean reflection sharpness increased
• Game has better check for when you are outdoors, resulting in less stoppage of rain in places where it doesn't make sense
• Sky One disappears in a cloud of smoke now.
• Flamethrower ignites items you hold better
• All items are less likely to fall through the ground now. May impact performance. Please keep an eye out on it.
Balancing
• Buffs go down 60% slower
• Can fall 15% further without taking damage (fall damage currently starts at 3 meter 80).
• Weather now mostly ignores Slow Day Night cycle setting. Weather changes 50% slower in Slow Day/Night but does still change unlike before.
• Battery upgrades flashlight extended from 10 to 15% per upgrade.
• Flashlight loses power slower if difficulty is easy or if slow day and night is enabled
• Can jump 10% higher and accelerate slightly faster when walking
• Warmth crystals in the levels give off a bit more heat.
• While sleeping temperature stays more stable
• Serious calculation error fixed in hypothermia recovery rates when in medium warm environments
UI
• Xbox and PC news in main menu now split up
• Support for Russian, German, French, and Spanish has been extended further but is not yet final.
• Credits updated.
Levels
• Landing floating meshes and holes fixed
• Flashpoint Cave 1 hole fixed
• Flashpoint Cave 1 warning about fire extended to also include heat + moved to earlier in the level for increased awareness
• Flashpoint Cave 2 green fire now also heats you and ignites torches
• Return journey at the end of Episode 2 now more clearly guided and more visually pleasing
• Flashpoint multiple holes fixed
• Flashpoint weather change 20% faster
• Flashpoint sharks swimming through the islands fixed
• Crossroads incorrect North/South orientation sky fixed
VR
• In VR PDA is a bit more angled to make reading a bit easier
• VR runs on Oculus 0.8 still and it will be another week to 3 weeks about before this is resolved. Also Vive crashes may occur. Same time frame for a fix for that.
v0.57:
• The story heats up in this second episode. Dark secrets lurk in the depths of this seemingly deserted alien environment and as you venture deeper into the underground you can't shake the feeling you are being watched and followed.
• One large new island along with the biggest cave system have been added, giving players an estimated 3-5 hours of additional gameplay and many dozens of new secrets and items. Continue your journey and explore the massive alien world!
• 3-4 hours of additional gameplay filled with new features and discoveries.
• Be very afraid of the new lightning storms
• Discover the large island of Flashpoint and harness the power of the skies.
• Explore the largest cave system in the adventure and make your way through massive underground caverns, settlements, and machinery.
• Dozens of new items and secrets. From sleeping gear to crowbars

REMAINING MAJOR ISSUES
• New VR menu may not give you control until you restart game once. Also you may need to use the mouse left click to confirm currently selected option. Enter may not work.
• Subtitle and voices may play while menus are up for example or when the option is turned off
• Hard to read pocket computer in VR
• Loading screens are very long or crash for some
• Problem with setting mouse sensitivity
Balancing
• On waking up after sleep game no longer saves if hunger/thirst/temperature critical and damaging you so you don't ruin your save game.
• Food cans, plants give 10-20% more calories.
• During sleeping hunger and thirst go down a lot slower, temperature a little slower
• Dehydration goes 5% slower in general
• Hunger goes 10% slower in general
• Lightning is a lot more likely to hit you
• On hard difficulty dehydration and hunger go additional 50% slower
• On hard lightning is an additional 50% more likely to strike you
• On hard hail storms hurt more
• Meteors now have 5% chance of spawning a meteor that will hit very near you or on top of you.
• On hard meteors have an even higher chance of spawning on a trajectory that will hit you
Levels
• Multiple holes in geometry and getting stuck in geometry issues fixed
• Landing Cave water bottle puzzle replaced with idol statue nearby
• Landing Cave extra save point before first swim
• Landing Autosaves upon completing torch tutorial
• Landing tutorial checks if you already posses whatever it wants you to do next and if so skips the next step
• Landing tutorial insta completes if you make a lit oiled torch while not following the tutorial steps
• Landing large new secret cavern
• Landing has permanent food source hidden away now
• Crossroads 1 paper note on the beach was under the ground
• Intro long black load screen at the end removed

• Assumed fix for AMD wrongly rendering the applyment points when crafting
• Can now holster what you hold by pressing Q.
• Game automatically uncrouches before saving to prevent crouch being saved into the save game.

• Note added to Controls menu that it has bugs and how to work around them for now
• Losing mouse cursor or freezing on inventory or crafting menu fixed
• Entering ladder climb mode now pops up controls

VR
• If enabled do not play intro cutscene in Landing
• If enabled do not display tutorial UI boxes
• In VR crouch speed is now also scaled
• Can now set Comfort Rotation, Smooth Rotation, Strafe in VR for Left/Right
• Can now set the movement speed you want to use in VR options, max 100%, min 10%.
• On VR all camera shakes and camera animations now hard forced off
• In VR Enter/E/Left Click also allows for starting Sleep
• Can now detach head from movement with new option. This makes seeing PDA harder, press H (force PDA up) to read PDA in this mode.
• If enabled do not allow opening inventory UI and do not allow crafting of items not held in your hand right now (and which would need crafting UI)
• VR main menu exists, activated by F11 just like in game

• New speech line about Yuri
• Some new panting and grunt sounds
